What is Yoga
Yoga is a sanskrit word that can be translated as "union." Yoga aims to unite the body, mind, spirit, and universal consciousness. Uniting the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual parts of ourselves allows yogis to experience deeper states of freedom, peace, and relaxation.
Yoga is an ancient practice that originated in India and has been passed down orally from teacher to student. Yoga is a holistic lifestyle that includes breathwork, postures, meditation, a code of conduct, and more. 1-on-1 teacher-student relationships is how yoga was designed to facilitate spiritual growth.
Yoga will help us become aware of our cyclical thought patterns and behaviors so that we can make better choices and live more fully with access to our inner resources of joy, compassion, gratitude, love and peace.
